2020 has brought unprecedented challenges for small businesses, so today we wanted to take some time to shout out a few small businesses that have really inspired us. These organizations have amazing missions and have pivoted to provide amazing services this year.

All Smiles Organizing

All Smiles Organizing is a small business that helps people find their “organizing personality” and solve their struggles with disorganization. The company is run by Marisa Huston, a Certified Organizational Specialist. We love Marisa’s approach to organizing because rather than just prescribing her own solution she works with clients to find systems that are going to work for them and be easily maintained. Marisa holds her meetings over video chat, allowing you to maintain social distancing. 

Marisa is also the host of the Live Blissed Out Podcast. This is a podcast to help people who are feeling “stuck” in any aspect of their lives find their a-ha moment and experience bliss. She has a variety of different professionals on the show who share their expertise and lessons they have learned along the way. We really enjoyed her recent episode with Terri Anderson Wilber, a certified trainer and master practitioner of neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) and a master practitioner of Mental and Emotional Release®. Teri’s work is focused around the way your conscious mind and unconscious mind communicate with one another. Give it a listen!

AO Discover!

AO Discover! Auburn-Opelika Children's Hands-On Science Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit children's museum and science center created to provide exceptional hands-on educational opportunities in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and arts. It is the only museum of its kind in Eastern Alabama. AO Discover! was planning to open its doors when the COVID-19 pandemic quickly changed the world we live in. Luckily, the museum’s amazing staff was able to pivot to offer STEM Camp-in-a-Box and a summer full of fun, online STEM competitions to keep students engaged while staying home. We love to see the creative ways the museum has been able to connect with families. For example, they recently used their social media platforms to hold the “Most Epic Pillow Fort Competition” to teach students about engineering, problem-solving, and creativity.

While providing this impactful at-home programming, the organization has continued to fundraise to help support the museum's opening which will take place when it is safe. The museum team has been working to develop several different opening plans that will ensure that when the museum opens its doors it will be a safe and healthy place for all families. 

If all of that wasn’t enough, AO Discover! Is also a Kuvio Impact Grant recipient and has found time to collaborate with us on a project that will help them revamp their website to better connect with families and donors online. 

We are so impressed by the pivots the museum was able to make during the COVID-19 pandemic and can not wait to see what successes the future will bring AO Discover! To stay connected with their museum you can check out their website and their Instagram account. 

Workplace Harmony

Workplace Harmony is an agency that provides consulting around organizational dynamics. We love their mission which is to “create strong cultures through open dialogues within company walls to improve trust, communication, and candor. To improve the employee experience by further developing the listening and coaching skills of leaders.”

Workplace Harmony provides a variety of services including HR partnership packages, HR strategic operations services, and leadership enhancement partnerships. We love this organization because we truly believe that owners and employees must be collaborating well in order to have a successful business and Workplace Harmony’s services are designed to support this idea. 

The founder of Workplace Harmony, Lauren Williams, also hosts a podcast, Caffeinated Convos and Horrible Bosses. In each episode, she talks with another professional about a negative workplace experience they have had and what can be learned from it. This podcast is a great learning resource for all business leaders!
